Applicants are invited for a permanent appointment as Director of the UCD Institute of Food and Health (UCD IFH).
The Director of the UCD Institute of Food and Health (UCD IFH) will provide the academic vision, innovation, strategic leadership and management that will sustain and develop the UCD Institute of Food and Health as a major international leader in Food and Health, and a key driver for the research goals outlined in the UCD Strategic Plan.
The successful applicant will contribute to academic leadership, and teaching & curriculum development at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The post holder will enhance and expand undergraduate and graduate education, as well as demonstrate a willingness to develop the Food and Health nationally and internationally.
The UCD Institute of Food and Health was formally established in 2008 and brought together all UCD academics and academic groups with an interest in the food health area. The Director is responsible for leadership in this area, guided by the Management Board and the External Advisory Board.
UCD IFH is a multi-disciplinary, campus wide initiative to develop food and health research and drive Irish and EU policy. The Institute is unique in Ireland and Europe in bringing together leading academics from all areas of food and health research. IFH projects explore diet, lifestyle, and health in food technology; food chain integrity; safety, quality and traceability in the food chain; sustainable food production and the environment. The Institute’s aim is to foster research across disciplines and, through its research, to:
- Influence national and European policy
- Promote public awareness of food and health issues
- Engage with our international peers
2011 Salary Scale: €102,244 - €131,357 per annum
* Subject to all new entrants to public sector as of 01 January 2011.
Appointment will be made on scale and in accordance with the Department of Finance guidelines.
